The only thing I’d change is that I’d said that Pherenike was a friend of Kalliope’s who I’d only just met, so the background tying her in to me, Menandros and Simonedes probably doesn’t quite make sense.

I like it though, so perhaps we could save the “Rhad and Menandros helped her deal with a protection racket a couple of years ago, when she refused to pay them. Knows Simonides and supplies all his ships’ goods” bit and introduce a new character who that applies to, maybe a roper? Particularly since I’d like to keep extending/mapping out my contacts so I’m not using the same ones all the time

Yes, I would like Phalanthus and Evadne to be recurring characters, or at least, I introduced them to support Rhadamanthus’s “protect my friends, those who aid/befriend me” belief. Particularly from the perspective that this encompasses not only useful contacts but common people who have shown him kindness. Introducing Evadne and Phalanthus puts names and faces to two such people.

FYI, though I didn’t put it in the write-up, I saw them as being teachers. They are fairly poor, I believe teachers in Ancient Greece weren’t well paid. Phalanthus runs a small school teaching children from seven or eight years old, reading of the epics, writing and to some older children philosophy and ethics. His daughter Evadne helps him run the school.

Hipponicus, Master Stevedore – Rhad has known him for several years and they owe too many favours to each other for them to bother counting anymore

Menandros – guide and bodyguard to newly arrived merchants. He has several regulars, but normally hangs around the docks looking for new clients. Knows lots about the goings on of the docks and trades wards

Pherenike – founded her own chandlers 5 years ago and through dint of hard work has made it a real success. Rhad and Menandros helped her deal with a protection racket a couple of years ago, when she refused to pay them. Knows Simonides and supplies all his ships’ goods.
